All, [sent 13 June 2008 to 25 e-mails] I don't have any SAR or PulSAR yet. but I've been busy collecting and organizing data that I hope will be useful if and when we start getting good "after" imagery (radar or optical). CURRENT EFFORT: data collection, preparation, and staging of "before" imagery and supporting data in anticipation of comparison with new "after" imagery. CURRENT NEED: Emergency Management would like: location (map) and quantification (table) of inundated land by county -- focus on these counties: Columbia Crawford Dane Dodge Grant Green Iowa Jefferson LaFayette Richland Rock Saulk Vernon I'm not sure we have enough data to do this yet, but we do have good 250 meter "before" imagery (June 1 MODIS) and some partial scenes of MODIS "after" imagery (June 10 and 13). Not sure we can extract and quantitify change in water extent at that scale. It may be worth a try, though. At the very least, some zoomed-in before/after comparison graphics could be useful, maybe by county. I'll try to do some of that this weekend. If anyone else wants to take a crack at it, please do. I've created a new FTP space that is non-volitile and more public. It is as follows: ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/pub/wisconsinview There is a subdirectory called "floods" and a directory "2008_June" for the current effort. It contains the following: 1) airphotos [right now just a GeoTIFF ortho quarter quad of the Lake Delton area "before" 1-meter true color] 2) graphics_maps [a place to store derived visual info] 3) landsat [three scenes gzipped. All are Landsat 7 (degraded). Two are June 1 before images, one is a June 10 after over Milwaukee and vicinity, I hope to add some Landsat 5 "before" imagery this evening or weekend from our WisconsinView collection -- already online at www.wisconsinview.org ] 4) modis [this is our current best data for before and after. I am reprocessing (as we speak) to make a full 34-band IMG of the June 1 Terra "before" image to go with the June 10 and today's June 13 after images. There are some "geojpegs" and 3-band geotiffs, but I wanted the full stack in IMG so that is what I'm making.] 5) precip [this is the GeoTIFF expermental, but highly accurate - we think - data from our friends as NOAA Severe Stroms Lab in Oaklahoma -- described in earlier updates and in an info file with the data] 6) shapefiles [I put in the Dartmouth Flood Observatory data as well as "statewode dams" from the WDNR, "dams of concern" from WEM and "watersheds of dams of concern" from Jeff Maxted (UW Limnology) and Wisconsin counties. I will also post lakes, rivers, roads, minor civil divisions when I get a chance] We continue to add info to the blog page on this topic: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/668 That's about it for now. Thanks again for your offers of help. -- Sam
