[e-mail from a colleague 13 June 2008] You have just lived through the wettest 365-day period in Madison history. From 14 June 2007 to 12 June 2008 -- 365 days -- 55.53" of rain fell at Truax. Previously at Truax, the maximum was 51.61" from from 8/25/1992 to 8/24/1993. There was also a wet period from 8/21/1959-8/19/1960 (46.48"). If we get more rain in the next couple days, that total will increase...there wasn't rain in mid-June of '07 until the 18th. The record for a calendar year in Madison is 52.91", in 1881, a famously wet year in the midwest -- when Marquette, Des Moines and Madison all set records. Scott
